TIARE KEENO

My approach is to provide a clear classical ballet structure, focusing on strength, coordination, organization, and breath within the movement. I also focus on internal sensations more than external shapes in order to not restrict my students to the typical aesthetic of classical ballet. I want my classes to be an inclusive and safe space for my students to explore, learn, make mistakes and find joy in their dancing.

“My teaching philosophy is centered around empowerment. As an educator, it is my responsibility to offer tools that can help my students unlock their fullest potential, and feel a sense of ownership over their education in dance.”

For binging it’d be Friends, New Girl, Modern Family, or Parks and Rec. Something light, easy, and with giggles But favorite TV shows to watch in general are Euphoria, Greys Anatomy, and Insecure.

What kind of music do you like?

R&B is my go-to. I love listening to Jazz during the holiday season and also enjoy alternative/indie rock/ hybrid music – Think Moses Sumney or Perfume Genius 🙂

What is your favorite thing to do on weekends?

Go to brunch and be outside in some way – hike, park, beach, etc.

What motivates you at work?

The thought that not everyone has the privilege of doing what they love and receiving a safe space to speak up and out (literally and metaphorically). A combination of gratitude and passion.
